Community Dinners

October 2012 Update

On October 16th we hosted our first Community Dinner for this year. It was very well attended with approximately 90 guests. Many that had been with us previously told us that they had been looking forward to the dinners and how happy they were to be back. We saw many new faces too.

We've found that our product donations are not as plentiful so far this year. If you aren't able to volunteer at the dinners but would like to participate in some way, we'd be happy to accept boxes of spaghetti, jars of spaghetti sauce (any kind), jars of parmesan cheese or containers of powdered lemonade mix. These could be left on the kitchen counter and will be put to good use. Also, we are in REAL NEED of two more cooks (you would be working with 2 other people who have cooked with us before) and two more people to say good-bye to our guests at the back door. So, if you have a few hours of time on a Tuesday evening, please speak to Sandy Countois about how enjoyable and rewarding working at these dinners can be.

Some of the local businesses and larger corporations who have sponsored these dinners with food, coupons or financial donations are: The Cookie Factory, Alexis Diner, Barilla, Lucini Italia, The American Legion, Paul Newman Corporation, Paulo Lombardo and Main Care Energy.  If you have the opportunity, please patronize these businesses and thank them while you're there for helping us make these dinners possible.
