To Love .... And Be Loved |
You're no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He's using us all irrespective of how we got here in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home. ⇔ Kid
Connection! - Calling all children ages 4-6th grade! You are
invited to join us this fall as we embark on an exciting new adventure
with Kid Connection! Each week, you will be hearing stories from the
New Testament beginning with John the Baptist right on through to
Pentecost with parables, miracles and stories about the week that
changed the world in between! Classes will meet each Sunday beginning
September 26 and will meet each week with the exception of a Christmas
break, December 26 and January 2) as you are dismissed from worship
following the children’s message at the 9:30 service. Interactive
storytelling, prayer and praise and fun activities like drama, crafts,
and movement will help you learn the stories of Jesus’ life. And
parents, a family magazine will be sent home (one per family) at the
beginning of each 4 week unit so that you can review the stories and
help your children remember what they learned in Kid Connection. We’re
looking forward to this new Christian Education year and hope that you
will be too! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
Lisa Countois ⇔ Jr/Sr High Sunday School - Attention Jr. and Sr. High students, plans are currently being made for a Jr/Sr High Sunday School class this fall. If you have a topic you would like to discuss or have ideas for Sunday School, please contact Lisa Countois or Pastor Kerri. We would LOVE to hear your thoughts. Class will meet each Sunday beginning September 26 and will meet each week with the exception of a Christmas break, December 26 and January 2 upstairs in the youth room. Stay tuned in for more information! ⇔ Community Fair - The annual North Greenbush Community Family Fair will be held from 5-11PM on Friday, September 10 and from 11AM to 11PM on Saturday, September 11th. The location is the Town Offices site on Main Ave. The Church has contracted for a 10ft. by 10ft. space to be used for outreach to the community and information sharing. Lou Adams is coordinating Church participation in this event, which is being organized by the North Greenbush Kiwanis Club. ⇔ Reconnection Sunday September 19 - Rally day...welcome home day... for the past couple of years the kick off to our fall schedule has gone by a few different names. For years it was "Rally Day", a day to rally the troops and for kids to meet and greet their Sunday School teachers. Three years ago, with JAM in full swing, we changed the look to an open house format and celebrated Welcome Home day. This year the consistory would like to invite you to "Reconnection Sunday" on September 19. As we continue to reflect on who God is calling us to be both individually and as a church and as we reconnect with God while we recommit ourselves to Him, it is also important to reconnect with one another. On Reconnection Sunday we will do just that. We will reconnect with God during a time of worship at 10 AM and then reconnect with one another during a special time of fellowship following worship in Fellowship Hall. During this time of reflection, reconnection and recommitment, we need one another even more. We need to be with our family. Summertime keeps us all busy especially as we enjoy God’s world. We all need to be intentional about setting time aside to reconnect with one another as the cooler weather of fall approaches. Will you mark your calendars now to set aside time to reconnect with God and with your faith family on Sunday, September 19? We hope to see you there! ⇔ Pulpit Exchange Sunday - The four RCA churches in our area, Greenbush Reformed, Emmanuel Reformed, Bloomingrove and First Wynantskill, will be conducting a pulpit exchange on Sunday, September 26. Very often the clergy of these churches cover for each other when one or more are out of town. In recent years, we have also been trying to find ways to share our gifts in ministry. As a way of strengthening our ties with one another and as a way for the congregations to become familiar with the ministers of the other churches, the clergy will be exchanging pulpits periodically. Our next exchange will be on September 26. Rev. David Jones from Greenbush Reformed will be preaching for our congregation and Pastor Kerri will be at Greenbush. ⇔ AIDS Walk and 5K Run - AIDS Walk 2010, sponsored by the Community AIDS Partnership of the Capital Region, will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Washington Park, Albany starting at 1 P.M. The AIDS Walk 2010 will bring together over 2,000 capital region residents to remind our community that the AIDS epidemic is far from over. Join in celebrating the lives of person living with HIV/AIDS in our community and help raise funds for needed local HIV/AIDS services. Registration forms and sponsor forms are on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall. ⇔ Women's
Autumn Retreat - The women of the
church have requested to have an opportunity to retreat at Fowler
Retreat Center during the upcoming Autumn season. The date
selected is October 29 - 31, 2010. More information will be
available in the upcoming months. Mark your calendars now for a
wonderful relaxing weekend. |
